Temporary Car Rental Facility Opens at Honolulu Airport
The interim car rental facility will allow the on-airport car rental companies to operate from one place while the permanent consolidated rental car facility continues to be built. It is expected to open in late 2020.
Honolulu Airport has opened its interim car rental facility while its permanent consolidated rental car facility (conrac) is being built, according to a report by KHON2.
The new facility consolidates the five on-airport car rental companies (Advantage, Avis, Budget, Hertz and National) into one location, says the report. It also includes a car wash, fueling stations, a customer service building and car pick-up/return areas.
The airport’s five-story permanent conrac is expected to be finished in late 2020. It will feature about 2,250 parking stalls compared to the current 895 parking stalls, says the report. The $30.9 million project will be funded by a customer facility charge, which is a daily charge of $4.50 for renters.
