SEARCHNovatel Wireless will supply its MT 2500 tracking device for Thrifty Car Rental vehicles in South Africa to capture driver behavior and protect against theft or loss.
Thrifty Car Rental South Africa selected Novatel Wireless' Mobile Tracking device, the MT 2500, to manage and protect its fleet against theft, damage and loss in the area, according to an Oct. 9 press release.
The MT 2500 captures and monitors driver behavior, relaying vehicle information on rapid acceleration, harsh braking, speed violations and excessive idling. It is also equipped with an optional battery for communications when power is lost.
“Thrifty originally selected Novatel Wireless' solutions based on their proven design and delivery of detailed analytics to suit our needs,” said Thrifty Car Rental South Africa Managing Director Lance Govender. “Leveraging the information we are able to gather from our current fleet of vehicles means we can improve driver experiences, keep close track of inventory and pass on savings to our customers.”
Rental operators can now detect and act on speeding while vehicles are still on rent, thereby reducing fines, admin workload, vehicle wear, and safety risks.
