Travel+ Leisure Awards Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a Green Travel Company
Enterprise is one of eight recipients of the 2008 Global Vision Awards based on new travel and tourism standards.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car was selected by Travel + Leisure magazine as a winner of its 2008 Global Vision Award. Judged on new travel standards in areas such as preservation and ecological conservation, Enterprise was awarded as a Green Travel Company.
Enterprise was chosen due to its concern with environmental sustainability. The company has a large fleet of fuel-efficient cars, which include flex-fuel vehicles and hybrids. It has donated $25 million for research of renewable fuels, is working on improving energy efficiency in its rental sites, and has dedicated funds for tree-planting.
Of the eight companies selected to be awarded, three were U.S.-based while the others were based in Asia and Mexico.
The panel of nine judges includes a variety of environmental and cultural preservation leaders, company heads, academics and media representatives.
