Travelstart launched a fully functioning website in Nigeria equipped with car rental, flight and hotel booking capabilities after testing a beta site in the area for about 12 weeks, the company announced May 16.
The company decided to officially launch in Nigeria, after it surpassed existing Travelstart markets in Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya in just six-weeks.
“Since launching in Nigeria, more than 60% of bookings have been regional and international with Arik Air being by far the main seller,” said Maija de Rijk-Uys, head of new markets at Travelstart. “The steady increase in bookings week-on-week is largely because the Travelstart brand is experiencing tremendous growth across various online channels like Facebook. We also have the Nigerian blogging community to thank who received the Travelstart concept well and have been instrumental in distributing the website to their readers.”
