Uber Looks to Partner with Rental Companies in Taiwan

After a two-month suspension, Uber will have to partner with licensed rental car companies in order to resume its ride-hailing services in Taipei, according to a report by Tech Wire Asia.
Uber was suspended from Taiwan after a long-running dispute with the nation’s authorities who considered Uber’s ride-hailing business illegal.
Before being suspended, the Taiwanese government ordered Uber to pay $10.57 million (U.S. dollars) in fines, says the report.
“We want to partner with more legal transportation service partners in weeks and months to come, whether they be from rental car companies or the taxi industry,” Likai Gu, general manager of Uber Taiwan, told Tech Wire Asia.
