Wilmington International Airport Receives Funding for Rental Car Maintenance Center
The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to advance a $4.5 million loan to the airport to build a new rental car service maintenance center. Construction is set to begin in May and finish in December.
The Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina received a $4.5 million loan from the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners to build a new rental car service maintenance center, according to Star News Online on Feb. 18.
Avis/Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National/Alamo and Thrifty/Dollar will each have up to 25 spaces in the new building to clean and perform routine maintenance on returned vehicles. Construction is expected to start in May and finish in December.
County officials voted unanimously to advance the money to the airport due to the airport’s history in borrowing money for projects and repaying it on time. The airport is set to pay back the rental car facility loan within 10 years.
