Zipcar will end its carsharing service in Austria by Aug. 6, according to a report by Reuters. Customers who have already paid beyond that date will receive refunds.
Zipcar faced growing competition in Austria. Daimler upgraded its car2go operation in Austria with a bigger fleet, around 700 new Smart models and bigger Mercedes-Benz models, according to the report. BMW and Sixt’s DriveNow carsharing program recently added convertibles to its Austrian fleet.
