A “serial entrepreneur,” Painter has incorporated 38 companies with a primary focus in auto retail, auto finance, and insurtech.

Painter founded CarsDirect (now Internet Brands), the first company to put an upfront price for a car on the internet, and car buying service; TrueCar, a NASDAQ-traded car buying website for new and used car buyers and dealers that ushered in transparency in auto retail, as well as used subscription startup Fair which pioneered the Car-as-a-Service model. His latest startup, Autonomy, is an EV-only subscription service that is on a mission to make access to EVs easier and more affordable.

Painter is a member of the World Economic Forum and has spoken at its Davos conference. He was also a founding member of Richard Branson’s Carbon War Room and was an early advisor at Tesla. He’s garnered numerous technology and entrepreneur of the year awards and launched TrueCar Racing, an all-female racing team sponsored by Penske Media Corporation and Virgin Group.

“With the extreme disruption of the last few years, how we get around is changing rapidly,” said Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News and conference chair. “We’re delighted to have a big thinker such as Scott Painter take the stage at ICRS. His keynote will motivate attendees to envision the bigger picture for their organizations’ success and the future of the car rental industry.”

The ICRS annually gathers industry professionals from North America and over 30 countries. The opening keynote will take place on April 17 at 11am. Registration is open now.
