Hotwire Ranks Holiday Deal Destinations in Travel Savings Report
The Travel Savings Indicator features the top five cities where car rental rates, and airline and hotel prices, have dropped the most compared to last year. Tampa and Memphis saw drops in both car rental and air prices.
Hotwire.com released its holiday edition of the Travel Savings Indicator on Dec. 18. The report features the top five cities in North America where hotel, air and car rental rates have dropped the most as compared to the holiday season last year.
The top five car rental price reductions for December 2012 include Tampa at the top of the list with a 29% drop to an average rate of $39. Miami Beach also has rates at $39, but ranked fourth in the report with a 15% drop.
With a 21% drop to $51, Newark, N.J. is the best alternate decision to access New York City when renting a car in the NY Metro Area, Hotwire said.
Car rental rates fell 17% in Memphis to an average price of $23. Memphis and Tampa also saw decreases in airfare prices with a drop of 15% and 10%, respectively.
