SIXT USA recently opened its newest U.S. car rental branch at Kona International Airport (KOA) on the island of Hawaii.

Open in time for spring and summer travel, the new location solidifies SIXT’s presence in the Hawaiian Islands where it now operates seven car rental branches on all four of the state’s major tourism destination islands including Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and now Hawaii. Car rental reservations can now be made at SIXT.com or via the SIXT app.

Located at 73-5639 Kaiakoili Street, a short 10-minute drive from KOA and served by a dedicated SIXT shuttle, the branch offers a premium fleet comprised of standard and luxury coupes, sedans and SUVs, giving customers and wide selection of vehicles to meet specific needs, preferences and budgets.

“As the primary airport serving the Big Island of Hawaii, Kona is a popular entry point to the abundant resorts, bright blue waters, coffee plantations, and rich cultural and historical landmarks on the leeward side of the island,” said Tom Kennedy, president of SIXT North America in an April 2 news release. “We look forward to serving the airport’s nearly 5 million passengers per year with a premium car rental experience worthy of this breathtaking destination.”

The new Kona branch joins a growing list of recently announced branch openings across North America including Salt Lake City International Airport, InterContinental Hotel Doral, Portland downtown, Hyatt Regency Chicago, Pasadena downtown, Denver Cherry Creek, and Washington D.C. Union Station. SIXT will continue to expand in the U.S. and Canada with the opening of additional locations this year.

In just a little over a decade, the U.S. has become the most important growth market for SIXT. Today, SIXT operates more than 100 rental branches in 23 states, employs more than 1,900 team members, and now serves 45 of the most important airports across the country.

In addition, by launching operations in Canada in 2022, SIXT is tapping into another billion-dollar market that also offers potential for synergies with its U.S. operations.
