Sixt Rent-a-Car has released an election-themed social ad campaign starring Jimmy McMillan, the media personality who founded the "Rent is Too Damn High" party and was once a candidate for New York governor and New York City mayor.
Sixt's "Damn Cheap" campaign — also featuring comedian The Fat Jew, The Young Turks host and co-founder Cenk Uygur, and Cadillac's new CT6 — uses an unexpected comedic message to tell the story of the company's notably low prices on luxury car rentals, including a special offer of up to 25% off reservations made in the U.S. through Nov. 9.
"We want to afford Americans a much-needed exhale of comic relief from the heated intensity of this 2016 election season by offering something fun and out-of-the-box,” said Amy Ostermayr, senior marketing manager at Sixt Rent-a-Car North America. “The early response indicates we clearly achieved that. It was a tremendous pleasure to work with Jimmy, The Fat Jew, and Cenk in creating this ad, and we're pleased that their dedicated fans in social media are sharing our message with both current and would-be customers.”
“Sixt believes that humor — as well as an original song that you just can't get out of your head — is a powerful way to creatively communicate our message of affordable luxury for all," added Ostermayr.
With its new Damn Cheap campaign, Sixt is also announcing that the company will be premiering a new location in New York City in early 2017.
Currently, Sixt currently operates over 70 locations across the U.S.
