Smoke will review the key macroeconomic factors affecting sales volumes and vehicle values through the first quarter of 2019, including employment trends, consumer confidence, interest rates, credit availability, the changing supply of vehicles for sale, and residual forecasts.

Then Smoke will take a look at the underlying economics of longer-term disruptive trends like ride-sharing, subscriptions, and alternatives to ownership that may alter the very structure of the industry.

“As the chief economist for one the auto industry’s largest global brands, Jonathan Smoke is able to assemble and analyze data that will give our audience the needed tools to confidently steer their companies,” says Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News and conference chair.

The 2019 International Car Rental Show convenes April 14-16 at Paris Las Vegas Hotel. Registration is open now. View the full schedule here.
