Following growth in international markets, Carwiz International, a Croatian-based car rental franchise, recently opened operations in Sri Lanka, one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the region.

This new expansion further underscores the brand’s focus on destinations with increasing demand for reliable and flexible mobility and transportation, as well as strong international networking.

Sri Lanka is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean, about 34 miles off the southeastern coast of India at the shortest point. Slightly larger than the state of West Virginia, Sri Lanka has 20 million people, about equal to the population of Texas.

The local franchise partner in Sri Lanka is Explore Drive Private Limited, with operations focused on the Katunayake area, near Bandaranaike International Airport.

The airport is the main entry point for international travelers arriving in the country. Its prime location provides quick, convenient access to Carwiz services upon arrival, which is central to the modern car rental experience.

At first, Carwiz will operate in Sri Lanka through a meet-and-greet model, including organized shuttle transfers, to provide flexible, efficient, and customer-oriented service.

This operational approach ensures high adaptability to guest needs while maintaining Carwiz's standards of quality and transparency.

“Asia is one of the key regions for our continued growth, and Sri Lanka stands out as a market with significant potential and rising demand," said Vladimir Ćućuz, director of operations of Carwiz International, in a Feb. 2 news release.

Ćućuz said proximity to the international airport, strong tourist traffic, and a partner who understands local specifics provide solid support for operations. “Our goal is to combine local expertise with CARWIZ International’s global operational standards,” he added.
