Global car rental company Finalrentals recently added the island of Grenada to its Caribbean portfolio of rental car outlets.
The Windward Island nation becomes the eighth Caribbean location on its list of car rental destinations.
Working in partnership with Jivon Louison, Finalrentals will be able to offer car hire at the Maurice Bishiop International Airport, located about five miles south of the island’s capital of St. George.
“Our ambition is to expand the car rental market into new destinations where hiring a car has been impossible or difficult for travellers across the globe,” said Ammar Akhtar, found and CEO of Finalrentals, in a Sept. 9 news release.
Akhtar added that the company seeks to work with local businesses and local partners like Louison so they can offer customer better vehicle choices than those of major car rental companies.
“Grenada, which is known as the island of spice, is seeing tourist numbers almost back to pre-Covid levels, with more than 500,000 day and overnight visitors in 2023 – a rise of 51% on the previous year,” Akhtar said.
Jivon Louison said Finalrentals will “democratize” car rentals for the many tourists who visit Grenada. Dubbed the Uber of car rentals, Finalrentals is an online platform that connects customers with local car rental companies across the world.
Finalrental, already operates in Puerto Rico, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, St, Lucia, Saint Maarten, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos.
Founded in 2019 and based in Cardiff, UK, Finalrentals has been growing as a fully digital car rental brand. Since the start of the year, the company has received a 300% increase in inbound partnership requests.
The Finalrentals platform is available for users in more than 30 countries, including Costa Rica, Greece, Mexico, Portugal, the United Arab Emirates, and the USA.
New countries are being added frequently, with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Montenegro joining in the last three months. Finalrentals aims to operate in 100 countries by the end of 2025.
